JWW 2023 Calendar: January
And so it goes that once I'm done with the sales of the previous calendar, it's time to start working on the next one.
Jasu Wonder World 2023 calendar theme is: "Horses!" For a long while I thought I'd do a different theme, but chose horse-theme right at the end of 2022 because it's been so long I've drawn/painted any horses and it might still take a couple of years for me to be able to work on my horse comic. And I'm not going to wait for that long to make any horse-related art! 😤
So, be prepared to see lots of horses on this blog and let's get to the first one; January 2023!
Here's the "official sketch" for the painting. These days I make these detailed sketches that are equivalent to the size of the actual painting because in the beginning of 2022 I got myself a light pad and fell in love with it. (light pad = a pad that shines light so when I place two papers on top of it, with the bottom paper having a sketch on it, I can trace the lines on the paper on top.
Here's the traced lineart on watercolor paper. So clean! 😍
It's so easy to trace the sketch using the light pad and this way I can avoid unwanted mess that sketching straight on watercolor paper might cause.
I feel that I owe you an apology for not remembering to take more than 3 photos of the painting process. I was just happy to paint a horse I think I got way too much into it and there was no space for anything else in my brain. 😅 I'll do better with the next illustrations! 💪
